I am pretty sure my experience won't be typical but having had many V twins over the years I thought it time for a Tuono, getting on a bit and the sit up position appealed along with reputation as being a fun bike.
Picked up a 2010 bike with 15k miles, well looked after with history in April. All went well for a month or so and as it came with a power commander decided to get it mapped on the dyno to improve fueling. Suspect previous owner had just downloaded a map and dyno guy confirmed there was plenty of room for improvement. Long story short - did a big end towards end of dyno set up! Worse things have happened I guess, but hardly ideal, anyway up and running with a replacement engine and hoping my Tuono experience gets better from here...

Bottom end is rock solid on these generally, provided you don’t over rev it on downshifts. That is a killer for them. Could it be less bike and more enthusiastic dyno operator.? Some dyno runs I’ve seen make me wince even when it’s someone else’s bike. |

As I said, I guess not typical and unlucky. No problems with dyno, one of best and most professional in UK, used by various race teams and TT. Whilst the bike is a 2010 plate turns out it’s late registered and engine is a 2008. Speaking to few people including AP it seems a few (very few) 2008’s have been there. Repair was deemed uneconomical and I would always have doubted the engine, a similar mileage 2009 engine is now fitted and goes well

Oh no, sorry mate. Here's hoping the "new" motor has a long and healthy life
