Fellas.

Bikesure just sent me my renewal it went from £703 to £496. A 30 percent saving.

In the meantime everyone else is at the 8 to 900 mark. Bennet's are big time robbers but the biggest thief's are Bemoto, eye watering numbers from them. I can't understand how they are still on business.

I was insured on the gen 1 for 190, I'm insured on the Duc for 660 and the old r1 is 200 something.

I thaught 500 for a bike valued at 14k was quite cheap. My car insurance is the same. My C63S is 1400 and my ML55 is 700. I think it's due to engine size and power maybe.

Bemoto for me were the best by far, insuring my Factory Tuono and highly modified Street Triple for £400.

I'm in my fifties and live in the North West with 5 yrs no claims.

My pleasure :-)

It's not new. It's a 2010 and started out as a bog standard non R. I picked it up a few years ago with 11k on the clocks (got 30k on it now!). It had a full Arrow low-boy exhaust with decat and remap, a carbon front fender and a carbon undertray.

The first thing I did was replace the rear shock which was naff for a new CBR600RR one off eBay for £100.

That made a big difference but then I spotted a brand new 2010 Daytona Ohlins TR0-9 race shock for £450 so that went in and improved things further. High and low compression damping and a hydraulic preload are nice to have.

Next was a set of Daytona forks with Ohlins FGK cartridges and Nissin radial brakes. With the rear shock extended by about 12mm, the handling is now razor sharp!

Other mods include;
Arrow rear-sets and quick-shifter
520 chain conversion with DID chain and Renthal sprockets
Crash bungs and R&G engine case protectors
Tail tidy
After market levers.

It's also had 3 stators, 3 reg/recs and a new charging loom. That was a few years ago and since then it's been reliable.

Currently running Metzeller M9RR's and got to say it's the sharpest handling, quickest revving bike I've ever owned and keeps up with anything in the twisties!

Had it at 3 sisters recently in the wet and it felt great.

Will post pics if anyone wants to see it?

Cheers :-)

Very tasteful spec congratulations. I’ve had a few 675R’s myself, mostly standard apart from exhausts and catalogue parts but appreciate what you’ve done with the suspension. Nice!

Did you ever contemplate going full Daytona spec with cams etc?

I loved what the STR was about always felt it could do with that little extra!

yeah i think for pure savings you cant beat bikesure. its bemoto i have the most beef with, bikesure do my cars with its paret/sister company Adrian flux most insurance companies struggle with insuring a 5.5L reasonably and some even say they don't insure cars over 3.2L so bikesure/flux have looked after me these past couple of years.

Just had my renewal from Bemoto for the Tuono and STR.
£380 and that's for their Platinum package with all the bells and whistles.
I'm happy with that.

I was with Adrian Flux for years and yes, they deal with cases others wouldn't touch.  I only changed reluctantly when their account manager advised me to NEVER just let a policy roll over even with them, without trying a new account with someone else.

And so it was, which led to a my doing at best a 2 yearly migration round the big players.   Can't be arsed now,if it's not gone up by much I'm just renewing.

For the last couple of years been with Bennetts who were comfortably cheaper than others with a good reputation behind them for service.

If I have to change I'd certainly recommend A Flux as a goto as when I listed mods they told me 'they're not mods! mods are an RG500 engine in a 250 chassis,or a turbo' LOL

Decent people to talk to in an industry full of ar*eholes.  Of course now with the industry banned from doing cheap introductory offers things could have changed.

I'm at the time of life where premiums are starting to rise again so I may need to look around next moth when I come to renew the T policy.

Never had a quote from them.

I do remember tho that Bennetts wouldn't even quote me for the Tuono!

Bikesure on all 4 bikes in the garage, renewals have stayed at the same price for a few years now and prices are low especially considering the Tuono and the CB1300 have mods, chip, Power Commander, full Akra etc. I'm into my 6th decade tho', one of the few benefits of getting old.

Wait a few years,it seems to start going up again   I'm almost 70

I think my Mille with mods went up from around £86 all in to something like £130 earlier this year, now waiting for the Tuono renewal price at the end of the month.

Unless it goes up drastically I'm not bothered looking around I'll just roll it on for another year

About £130 here too, with modded collector, can, chip, carbon, rearsets.

£798 from Carole Nash, £189 from Bennetts which I went with as I thought it was reasonable as I had 0 NCD, Bemoto couldn't quote online and I needed cover there and then.

Makes you wonder how two of the biggest brokers score things so differently.

I'm sure they sometimes just pick a number out of the air, perhaps they've met their monthly quota or something and just inflate the prices to make the paperwork worthwhile?

Still legalised highway robbery though

Just checked now and my '09 Tuono went up from £92 to £124 with Bennetts so I thought 'sod it' and just rolled it over.

Next time renewal comes up for both bikes I'll be in my 70's so not even sure I'll be wanting to ride by then anyway..

Actually I don't really want to ride atm,the Mille is legal and ready to ride but I've not bothered since it's Mot, and the Tuono has turned into an ongoing exercise in just replacing parts, some of them cosmetic, some scheduled maintenance and some performance upgrades.

Not sure really, I haven't done any trackdays since Jerez in 2016 what with the lockdowns and my heart surgery so only ridden the Mille a couple of times outside of short trips to the MoT station, plus the Tuono is still in a state of ongoing restoration so not been tempted by riding something more comfortable.

Most of my mates have given up riding for one reason or another and it got boring just riding by myself down the same roads for no real reason without trying to take on the corners.

These old Apes are also getting to be a challenge for me to move around safely,I nearly dropped the T trying to shuffle it around in a crowded garage which I took to be nature reminding me I'm not as strong as I used to be.

I intend to re visit my old gliding addiction shortly and as that is like doing a trackday but in multiple dimensions at the same time I could well decide to give up bikes totally in favour of occasional aerial sorties.

Probably more in keeping at my age as long as I stay away from HT power lines Embarrassed

We did used to have the annual AP meet but that's fallen by the wayside now.

When I was active on the SV1000 Portal years ago we used to organise an annual National meet that migrated round the country and spanned from Fri night till Sun afternoon,.

That was very well attended for the first few years but then people moved on,apathy set in and loads of people tended to drop out after promising they'd attend and it screwed up dinner bookings, entertainment etc so it was stopped I think.

Also given the traffic on here compared with years past I doubt there would be enough takers to make it worthwhile unfortunately.

We did used to have informal meets up at the Ponderosa occasionally  but I think most of those guys are well out of Aprilia ownership by now and never visit the forum.
