Hi, finally run the bike, but it won't tick over.
I think I may have kinked the furl line, but I will get one next week for it. Also I forgot to put the two plugs in the air box, I done that but it did not make any difference. Could the injectors be not running properly, say that it will rev OK, up to 6K, but anything below 2k it will stall. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Rich. The bike as you all know is 2005 factory. T. I. A. π

Hi Spoonz, I have got them connected but I am not so sure they are the correct way around, I will take a picture for you to look at, and maybe you can tell me if they are correct, thanks.
Also tapmyheaad said check the valve that the crinkle pipes connect to, it should go up and down as you turn the ignition on, after four year it maybe stuck or finished, I will put some WD40 or AC90 and see if it move that is if it is stuck. Thanks for your help Spoonz, much appreciated as always ππ€π

The flapper valve those crinkle pipes connect to can go wrong. Though not common.
My race bike had a cutting out issue and the valve had seized. Under Griffs advice I drilled/filed a small hole so there was air passing and it ran but not well, cutting out probably once a lap. It only cleared up with a replacement. However, also at the same time the reg/rec packed in and I also noticed the main harness under the rear seat that went to the 30amp main fuses had a white connector. It was deformed and had started to melt. I assume the current not being dealt with via the reg/rec when running would heat the plug and as it expanded there was a poor connection. Tested the stator and all was fine, and hard wired the melting plug plus the second connector block between the βVβ which n the engine you find on the 04/05 bikes and so far, since 2017, all good. As you suspect however it could just well be vacuum pipes around the wrong way or split.

Hi lads, now I got the the valve and in unseized with some releasing fluid, it will tick over for 10 seconds then cut out?
I got another tick over valve coming, and Aprilia want 649 quid for one ffs, anyway I got one for 20 on ebay. If only I could sort this problem out, of it cutting out after 10 seconds, I would be nearly there. Could it be the fuel line maybe have a kink in it. I am buying a new one when Griff has one in stock, Monday hopefully, but somehow I don't think that's it, as if you rev it, it will keep going? All help would be appreciated, thanks Rich π

Hi mate sounds like a pain in the arse. When you say tick over valve are you referring to the stepper motor in/on the airbox? I'm starting the process of breaking the factory on Monday and have both the stepper motor and fuel line I can send along with your headlight? I've had similar issues in the past but more stalling at lights rather than not ticking over, replaced the fuel filter and cleaned the sensor in the airbox ( was filthy from a PO overfilling the oil and it going into the airbox) and also replaced the fuel line as it had a very slight kink and problem solved. I couldn't pin point the exact issue as all three contributed to my poor running.

I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

Hi Rich obviously you have fresh fuel if possible esso supreme only one that doesn't have ethanol. Try running some petrol injector cleaner at a high dosage, warm her up and give it the beans. Suspect lack of use and fuel has gone gummy.

Hi, Prsv and Adam, see what this new tick over valve does, yes I got some injector cleaner and Esso supreme in it.
I will ti k over for about ten seconds and it is fine. But always starstops about the same length of time. I will see what happens with the new cave and new pipes, the crinkle ones and the small ones, i got a picture of tapmyheaed and they are on the right way. Long time no see Paul, I hope you're keeping well, i am sure we met up at that show, that was a long time ago π. It is going to be a slow thing to track down. It will rev quickly, and it is no problem. Adam thanks mate, I will see how I go and I might need them extra parts, much appreciated π

Yes goodwood breakfast club. Sadly sold my black factory gone down the adventure bike route very boring starts every time I push the button. On the ape I did have an idling problem turned out to be a plug cap resistor failing think they should be 5 ohms worth a check if you cant trace your problem.

Thanks Paul, i will might have gone the wrong way with my 2015 crossplane R1 and Superstockπ€£, few more years I will probably follow you down the same route. Yes them plug caps are sh*te on them, i might try the threaded type with iridium spark plugs where the caps come off them. I put a new set on it years ago but they never seam to last that well, and you ain't the first person to mention it, so i will change them too. Nice to hear from you again π€ππ
