Hi all,

Just a quick one that's probably been answered before but it's winding me up. I've been changing brake and clutch fluid today - front brakes done in about 5 minutes with no issues, back brake done with the usual issues but got some braking effect there. But the clutch is just not playing - I had the engine out and back in again, haven't split the system at all so when I changed the fluid I've now got no clutch at all. I've bled and bled it but keep getting air coming through my pipe - so am I doing something fundamentally wrong here?
I think it's an uprated slave cylinder (it's a gold one - sorry no idea what make it is), and I took it off and there's some movement on the piston but not a lot, so has anyone got a quick fix guide to doing this please?
I should have had this bike rebuilt weeks ago but been banging the hours in at work so I've been struggling to get garage time - I was hoping to pretty much have it ready for mot this week and this is about the only thing holding me up.

Cheers.

When I changed my clutch slave to an MPL it did take ages to bleed. Fill the new slave with fluid first then push piston back. Then reverse bleed the line until you fill the reservoir and don't see any bubbles in it. Crack the master cylinder banjo as well while reverse bleeding to make sure the master is free of air. Only then start bleeding in the usual direction to remove air form the slave. It took a while but got there in the end.

I started getting air into my clutch (Gen2 Tuono) a few weeks ago, tried a new Factory Racing slave but that didn't sort it so got a new accossato clutch master cylinder and line and fitted that and it took me ages to get it bled, tried the reverse bleed with a syringe and just could not get it to bleed through at all, totally solid no matter what I tried so just went back to the normal method of pumping it through via the lever and bleeding the air out via the bleed nipple on the new master. It took a while to even get a slight bit of resistance at the lever but once it started it soon bled through properly and it's cock on now.
I'm not sure if this is any help but it just seems that there are various methods and it boils down to what works for you.

Cheers for the replies fellas. Am I being even more stupid here or have I got the wrong end of the stick - you mentioned bleeding the master cylinder, is that the same as on the front brakes? I can only find one bleed nipple and that's on the slave!!
Just got in from work and got a new 1/2 litre bottle of brake fluid on the way home so one way or another I'm going to get it sorted this afternoon!!!

Not sure which bike you have but on my gen2 Tuono the original clutch master cylinder didn't have a bleed nipple on the master itself, it just has the banjo bolt but there is a bleed nipple on the top of the banjo that goes into the slave and you can bleed it through using that. On my new accossato clutch master cylinder it has a proper bleed nipple so it just made it a bit easier.

Cheers padded cell- it's an 03 Gen1 RSVR so the only bleed place is on the slave. Think I may have sorted it - not ridden it for 18 months so I started to think it could be the clutch has seized. I've taken the slave off and whacked the piston and I think I've got some movement now. Waiting for the battery to charge so I can run it up and see if that worked.

Fingers crossed then fella, I was swearing and cursing at mine, took so long to bleed through, probably just because it was a new master cylinder and line, so completely dry to begin with, but I really couldn't work it out at first.... Just the joys of bike ownership I think .
I think they upgraded the Gen2 Rsv's and they have a separate bleed nipple on the clutch master but they kept the cheaper one for the Tuono, tightwads....
Hope it's all sorted for you now chap👍

Try tying lever against bars over night or get bleed nipple high up pref above lever I know that's not possible tho, changed seal in my slave couple wks ago took about 20 pumps to get air out bleeding as it is on bike ?? This on 09 tuono!

Well it seems my clutch was seized cos I just started it and although it jerks into first I actually have a working clutch. Cheers for the replies, I think it'll do for now.
