I seem to remember Griff saying no benefit when I asked him.

It's a sort of resonance thing, I did actually remove mine purely because I prefer the induction sound

It IS in there Colin.
But as Ian has said, there's no proven gain (other than dumping a few gms I suppose?) it will however make the bikes induction roar a bit louder.
I took mine out, and refitted it a few years later.
Prrobably my imagination, but the bike felt smoother.

Thanks Lads, one of the reasons that contribute to my love of the Gen 1 & Gen 2 is the sound, i am off work this week so it will be out quite a lot, open cans & K&N i would imagine that there is no one riding around with the OEM cans on

I am at the moment because i haven't got round to fitting the Tigs back on after a trackday, sounds like an angry sowing machine not nice at all.
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left

Still got standard cans on my gen2 T, had enough of the snarling Evo can on my old Mille, and next time my tank is up I'll be replacing the resonator schnorkel and fitting a new OEM paper airfilter too.

with you on the stock Airbox and filter Ian but I can't keep the stock cans on they look pretty good for the oem set up but i miss the noise, engine braking and slight power increase from the aftermarket cans. In the past ive run cored cans ,arrows and now Tigcraft and the latter is the only system that I've noticed any difference orher than noise over oem exhaust . I got rid of the evo as it was causing more issues than it was worth and I was worried something would get past the K&N and into the trumpets. ......not good!

I run an Evo kit with a K&N on my Mille but only because it came with one fitted, I'd never buy one. The Ape Evo can is good power wise, it was an Akra after all, just made OEM and that coupled with Mark's collector and an FR200 chip makes for good go.

Fine for track use but I hated the noise when trying to ride under the radar through quiet villages. I've been pulled before for speeding on noisy bikes, the last cop said he'd heard me coming miles down the road and was just set up and waiting for me to appear.

Stealthy is the way young grasshopper LOL

I hear what you say and it was a concern I had before I fitted my (Home made) EVO airbox but I wanted to try an induction mod (Which I think definitely improved things) and the EVO made more sense to me than the Renegade as I wanted to keep the hot engine air away from the induction air. You know the heat that these bikes spill out everywhere and that's what I wanted to avoid going into the engine. Anyway, I can only speak from my experience of the EVO I made and after 3K miles and regular checks, absolutely nothing has got into the airbox, not a spec of dirt at all and the seal appears intact every time I look. I still check though.

Just my input.

Snowman, I know what you mean, I have noticed several other Prilla's with the open cans on and they are not like the screaming inline 4s, more of a rolling deep grumble, more noticeable on a track day.
